Bristol Parks and Recreation will be offering a wide variety of sports camps, clinics and leagues this summer. Sandlot Baseball (9 to 12 years): This long running baseball camp features both instruction and game play in a fun environment. This year’s program will be run by Steve Gaudet with assistance from local high school players. The camp is held at McCabe Waters Little League Fields from June 23 to July 3 (Monday to Thursday only) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt.
Wrestling The Camp (6 to 14 years): Youth will learn offensive and defensive techniques that includes take downs, bottom moves, top moves, and pins. Program meets at BCHS Wrestling Room from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for four nights Monday to Thursday July 7 to 10. The fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt.
Skyhawks Starting New at Golf (5 to 8 years): The camp focuses on building the confidence of young athletes by teaching proper technique including the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting, and body positioning. Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player. All equipment is provided. Program meets at Chippens Hill Middle School Gym June 30 to July 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The fee is $89 includes t-shirt and merit award.
Skyhawks Flag Football The Camp (7 to 12 years): The campers will learn skills including the core components of passing, catching, and de-flagging or defensive positioning – all presented in a fun and positive environment. Skyhawks Flag Football is recommended for beginning to intermediate athletes. Program meets at ChippensHillMiddle School, July 7 to 11, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The camp concludes with the “Skyhawks Super Bowl”, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills! The fee is $75 includes t-shirt, football and merit award.
Skyhawks Mini-Hawks The Camp (Soccer, Baseball and Basketball) (4 to 7 years): This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball, and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. The campers will explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Program meets at ChippensHillMiddle School; two sessions are offered Session 1: July 7 to July 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. Session 2: July 21 to 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. The fee is $75 per session; includes t-shirt, ball and merit award.
Skyhawks Tiny Hawk The Camp (Soccer and Basketball) (3 to 4 years): The essentials of soccer and basketball are introduced in a fun and safe environment with lots of encouragement. Children will learn balance, body movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development through a series of sport-specific games tailored to their attention spans. Program meets at ChippensHillMiddle School; two sessions are offered Session 1: July 7 to July 11, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Session 2: July 21 to 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. The fee is $55 per session; includes t-shirt and merit award.
Skyhawks Basketball The Camp (5 to 7 years): This fun, skill-intensive program is designed with the beginning to intermediate player in mind. Basketball staff will focus on respect, teamwork, and responsibility, starting each day with a “skill of the day” and progressing into drills and games. The program meets at ChippensHillMiddle School July 14 to 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. The fee is $75 includes t-shirt, basketball and merit award.
Skyhawks Soccer The camp (4 to 6 years): Young athletes will gain the technical skills and sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. Designed for beginner and intermediate players, this camp focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. By the end of the camp your child will have learned new life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends, and improved his or her sport skills. Program meets at ChippensHillMiddle School July 28 to Aug. 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The fee is $70 includes t-shirt, soccer ball and merit award. The campers are asked to bring shin guards and sneakers/soccer cleats.
Boys Basketball League (13 to 17 years): Basketball games are held on Mondays and Wednesdays June 30 to Aug. 6 at RockwellPark outdoor basketball court from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Program is led by Coach Joe DeFillippi and is a way to stay active, make friends, and have a good time on the court. The fee is $35 for the season.
Youth Basketball Clinic (8 to 14 years): Students will work with Coach Joe DeFillippi to improve basketball skills. Clinic includes both instruction and gameplay with students being grouped by age and ability. The program meets at Chippens Hill Middle School Gym July 7 to July 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt.
Parisi Speed and Agility Clinic (9 to 17 years): Every participant will learn proper running techniques, drills to enhance running form, dynamic warm up, change of direction, plyometric training, first step quickness, flexibility and body weight strength. An excellent program for all athletes, all sports, at all ability levels. The lass meets at Bristol Eastern High School track on Tuesday and Thursday evening 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Session 1: July 8 to July 17 Session 2: July 22 to July 31 . The fee is $55 per session.
Youth Soccer The Camp (7 to 14 years): Participants will learn and practice soccer skills including trapping, passing, shooting, dribbling, heading and goalie techniques. Half and full field matches will be held. The camp is held Monday to Thursday Aug. 4 to Aug. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at RockwellPark soccer field. The fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt.
High School Soccer The Camp (13 to 17 years): This co-ed soccer camp is designed for youths entering ninth grade through 12th grade. The program will feature instruction of soccer skills and organized game play. The camp runs Aug. 11 to 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at BristolEasternHigh School field. The fee is $30 and includes a t-shirt.
