Planning Commission reschedules workshop on Plan of Conservation and Development

The Bristol Planning Commission has rescheduled its workshop meeting/listening session to hear comments from the public regarding the preliminary draft of the city’s 2015 Plan of Conservation and Development. The meeting, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 24, but cancelled due to inclement weather, is now scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21 9 to 11 a.m.; Manross Room. lower level, Manross Memorial Library , 260 Central St., Forestville.

The preliminary draft of the plan can be viewed at (and downloaded from) from the Planning Commission’s page on the city’s website at http://www.bristolct.gov.

The Feb. 21 meeting will include a brief overview of the draft plan and will provide an opportunity for interested members of the public to comment on its recommended priorities and strategies. Following the public meeting, the Planning Commission will be refining the plan prior to a formal public hearing and subsequent adoption of the Plan sometime later this year.

A Plan of Conservation and Development is an advisory document used by the Planning Commission and other City agencies to:

 Protect the resources important to residents

 Guide growth and change in Bristol

 Identify facilities and services needed to support the community

Bristol residents and other interested individuals are encouraged to come to the meeting to help ensure that the city’s Plan of Conservation and Development reflects community goals.

“This Plan is an important document which will be used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond,” said William Veits, chairman of the Planning Commission in a press release from the city’s planning office.
