Bristol Parks and Recreation hosted its 63rd Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 26.
Despite the pouring rain, there were over 200 youth and adults in attendance. Be sure to “Like” Bristol Parks and Recreation page on Facebook to view pictures from the event.
Parks and Recreation in a press release offered “special thanks” to the Bristol Fish and Game Association for co-sponsoring this event with the Parks and Recreation Department as well as the following organizations that helped donate prizes and money necessary to make this event possible:
Sponsors/ donations: City True Value, Dunphy’s Ice Cream, Oakland Mechanics, Scarritt’s Spas and Pools, Lee Hardware, Bristol Professional Supervisors Union, Local Union 233, Bristol Firefighters Local 773, Bristol Police Union 754, and Labor Union.
Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers: Shelia Herens, Noah Lease, Paul Rysokowski, Jessie Petroka, Bryan Dumelin, Jeremy Rathbun, and the parks crew, Al Kemp, Sean Harris, and “JR” Candido Galindo.
Fish and Game Association members: Special thanks to Steve Robinson, Ken Schilling (Bubba), Paul Robinson, Ed Jakubowski, and Tom Witkewicz who were in attendance helping the youngsters throughout the morning
A variety of raffle prizes were awarded throughout the morning as well as top prizes in a number of categories.
Derby winners include: Zachary Jones and Jade Doty (first trout); Jake Jacquette and Vivien Shea (second trout); Jack Barnett and Cecelia Johnson (first limit); Dylan Wilson and Naviah Santiago (second limit); Tyler Cameron and Jasmine Rivera (third limit); Tyler Cannon and Tiffany Bartlett (largest fish); Jack Jacquette and Vanessa Parks (smallest fish); Max Deschaine, Sophia Degado, and Caden Tampellini (youngest catch).
