Back for the second summer, St. PaulCatholicHigh School and Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) are proud to announce two summer sessions of S4’s popular study skills workshops: one for middle school students, the other for high school students. The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn while reducing stress.

Both the middle and high school workshops will be held from Wednesday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 15 at St. PaulHigh School, 1001 Stafford Ave., in Bristol.

James Cooper, dean of Academic Life for St. PaulCatholicHigh School said in a press release from S4, “Based on last year’s success, we are excited to once again bring the S4 workshops to St. Paul and the Bristol community. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn these critical skills for success in school and in life.”

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies, said the S4 news release. Its highly interactive approach is designed to clearly demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by experienced teachers and class size is limited to 25 students.

Students will learn 10 logical and easy-to-implement skills that are essential for successful learning and studying: goal setting, time management, note-taking methods, asking questions, active reading, understanding main ideas and important details, using visuals, summarizing to learn, notebook organization, and quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies.

S4 program provides materials that complement and outline the workshop sessions. They are designed for ongoing student support at home. Each three-workshop session costs $275.
