The following release from the Mayor’s office was submitted Monday afternoon:
Mayor Ken Cockayne announced his intention to appoint Jennifer Dube to the Bristol Board of Education. Dube will replace Karen Bourassa (R) who resigned last month for personal and family reasons.
Under the provisions of Bristol’s City Charter, Bourassa’s appointment must be filled by a Republican. The Mayor intends to nominate Dube at the February City Council meeting. Dube is the vice president of the West Bristol School PTA and is an active member of the Bristol community. She is a dental hygienist by profession and has two young children in the Bristol school system.
“I am pleased that Jen has agreed to fill this important vacancy,” Cockayne added “I believe that she offers the Board of Education a fresh perspective and as a mother with children in our school system, can readily understand the educational needs for our community.”
Cockayne said he met with Dube and was impressed by her knowledge of our school system and her desire to help provide a quality education for Bristol students. “I believe that Jen is ready to hit the ground running and will have a positive impact on Bristol education in the coming months,” Cockayne concluded.
