Gina D’Angelo from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, kicked off the annual Bristol Mayor’s Task Force HIV Education Forum.
She spoke on the newest HIV counseling guidelines and techniques for testing. She also addressed prevention efforts targeted to populations at high risk and outreach to partners of newly diagnosed folks.
The other speakers were Damon Gibbs of Planned Parenthood, speaking about youth outreach and education; Michelle Webber, addressing compassion fatigue; and Diana Lombardi and Natasha Lombardi, discussing transgender culture and issues related to HIV infection.
Forty participants from substance abuse treatment facilities and social service providers from across the state attended.
