Obituaries: David W. Murphy

David W. Murphy, 86, of Marlborough, MA, widower of Helen Murphy, died at Marlborough Hills Health Care Center on Tuesday (March 29, 2016). David was born in Bristol on October 2, 1929 to the late William and Mary (Ward) Murphy. After graduating high school David joined the United States Army where he served his country proudly. After the service he spent his career working as a correctional officer. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Italian Social Club and the American Legion but most of all he loved spending time with the love of his life, Helen, with whom they shared 58 years of marriage. David is survived by two sisters-in-law: Deany Murphy, Old Saybrook, Thelma Nilson, Marlborough, MA; nieces and nephews: Mary Ellen Wolf, Ellington, Michael Murphy, Old Saybrook, Kelly Murphy, Willington, Janice Murphy-Shaw, Westborough, MA, Kathleen Marinelli, Bristol, and Linda Bacon, Marlborough, MA; and dear friends Rose and John Dubowsky . In addition to his wife and parents, David was pre-deceased by his siblings: Mary M. Dyson, William F. Murphy and F. Ward Murphy. Funeral services will be celebrated at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT 06010 on Friday (April 1, 2016) at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Funk Funeral Home, prior to the service, between 10 and 11AM. Please make memorial donations to a charity or fund of your choice.
