Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and more than 50 local community and health care leaders attended an open house on March 14 at the Wheeler Health & Wellness Center, 10 North Main St., Bristol, to celebrate Wheeler’s federally qualified health care center designation and expansion to Hartford, New Britain and surrounding communities.
Wyman and Bristol Hospital were recognized for their support of Wheeler’s commitment to build health equity in medically-underserved communities and reduce health disparities among Connecticut’s most vulnerable citizens through the delivery of high quality, integrated, patient-centered health care services.
The expansion was approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration. Wheeler’s Health & Wellness Center in Bristol achieved FQHC designation in August 2015.
