Raymond Ned Markie, 68, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Bristol, beloved husband of Lynda (Bossie) Markie, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 15 at his home.
Ray was born on January 14, 1948 in Bristol and was the son of the late Ned and Doris (Proulx) Markie. He was raised in Bristol where he attended St. Ann Grammar School and Bristol Central High School before entering the United States Air Force. He was a proud Vietnam veteran. Ray and Lynda moved to Charlotte, N.C. in 1992 where he owned and operated All About You Limousine. He appreciated classic cars and was working on restoring his Pontiac GTO and Chevy Malibu.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Ray is survived by his children, Ricky Markie (Jane), Doris Collins, Lisa Latko (Rob), Scott Sargent (Tia), Lori Beaudet (Gerald), and Kevin Markie; his sister, Elaine Grant of Burlington; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David Sargent. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 10 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday between 6 and 8 PM.
