“Mayor Ken Cockayne 2013 Holiday Message

Christmas is a time when just for a few days or even a few hours, the pressures of everyday life are forgotten and young and old alike come together in celebration. Christmas is a time to reflect on what binds us together, as members of the same family, as neighbors and as fellow citizens.

The holiday season offers us a chance as individuals and a community to review and look at the infinite possibilities for crafting the vision of a better Bristol, a more vibrant community. Let us use this opportunity to revel in the accomplishments we have made this year and let’s look ahead to the challenges that we face and strive to make our lives and community a better place.

This holiday season I am asking all Bristol residents to take time out of their busy schedules to remember the brave men and women of our military who are sacrificing their lives this holiday season to defend our freedoms. Let us remember the poor, the unemployed, the sick and the infirmed. This can be a time of loneliness and perhaps even of despair.

Reach out to those who need our care and support. It will make your holiday and theirs much brighter.

Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Mayor Ken Cockayne”
