Lake Compounce announced its fourth annual “Holiday Lights”, New England’s favorite seasonal holiday themed family event taking place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings beginning on Nov. 27.
Brand new for this season, a 100-foot tall decorated tree will reign over the main gates of the park with hundreds of thousands of lights and decorations. The giant tree takes a team of eight maintenance workers roughly a week to construct. A ceremonial lighting of the tree will be held nightly at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Each evening a different special guest will be chosen to light the mammoth Christmas Tree starting with Santa himself on opening night.
“Holiday Lights” will provide full family entertainment for all ages, and include festive activities such as a spectacular light show every half hour at the main gate, which will feature tens of thousands of dancing lights set to holiday music. Kiddieland rides and family themed rides will be in operation. The Train will be transformed into the North Pole Railway, operated by a very special, uniformed train conductor with a magical holiday story to tell.
There will be indoor activities such as cookie decorating, letters to Santa, and gingerbread house making. On the Kiddieland stage, children will enjoy Mrs. Claus’s Story Time. There will be carolers strolling throughout the park, an ice carver creating unique, frozen sculptures, and lots more festive entertainment including clowns making balloon animals and lots of holiday characters greeting guests. The childhood favorite; Santa photos with the big man himself while little ones whisper their holiday wishes to him is not to be missed in the Winter Wonderland Starlight Theatre.
“Holiday Lights was tremendous last year, guests of all ages really enjoyed the event. Seeing the park decked out in lights is truly amazing,” said Jerry Brick, general manager, in a press release. “We have millions of lights, and special entertainment everywhere. This is truly becoming a family tradition.”
The park gates will open at 5 p.m. on Fridays, and at 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The event goes until 9 p.m., and will run Nov. 27-29, Dec. 4-6, 11-13, and 18-20. Admission is $15.99 plus tax per adult, $11.99 plus tax for children 4 thru 10, and free for children 3 and under.
Platinum and Diamond Season Pass holders may enter for free with their 2015 or 2016 pass. Tickets are available online now, or at the park gate once the event begins. Nominal fees charged for select activities.
2016 Platinum Passes are being offered at the park at a special sale price of $79.99 plus tax.
